THE REDEEMED CHRISTIAN CHURCH OF GOD,

AKWA IBOM PROVINCE 5, GLORYLAND ZONE, GLORYLAND AREA,

GLORYLAND PARISH

PASTOR IN-CHARGE OF PARISH HAND-OVER NOTE/PROGRESS REPORT

  1. BRIEF HISTORY OF THE PARISH

The redeemed Christian Church of God Gloryland parish was established and inaugurated on Sunday 30th April, 2000 at Frekon’s Hotels, @2 Oku Street by RCCG, Uyo Area 3 (East II province), which at that time had “His Majesty Model Parish” as her Area Headquaters under the leadership of Pastor A. K. Adeleye.
The pioneer Minister-in-Charge was Brother Emeka Onyukwu who started with Brother Emmanuel Johnson Okon as the only foundation members at inauguration. Lack of adequate workforce, musical equipment and a place for worship was a major crippling problem right from onset before one Mrs. Ajayi (a worshipper at Winners’ Chapel, Uyo) gave the Parish the opportunity to use her Restaurant as a place of meeting free of charge on Sundays for Worship Services.
Brother Emeka Onyukwu however handed over the leadership of the Gloryland Parish to Deacon Abraham A. Ajibola in September, 2001. In 2002, the Parish miraculously through the sacrifice of few members and some external support acquired a set of worship equipment such as drum set, amplifier, keyboard and microphones which made our worship servicers livelier. Also, the Parish started Tuesday Digging Deep and Thursday Faith Clinic at Pastor AJIBOLA’s residence at Afaha Oku, off Ikpa Road, Uyo while the Sunday services still continued at Mrs. Ajayi restaurant until we finally secured an apartment at 136 Ikot Ekpene Road, Uyo. Gloryland Parish was ten relocated to the apartment in January, 2004 by Deacon Abraham Ajibola.
Gloryland Parish was declared Area Headquaters with effect from 1st September, 2005 when Deacon Abraham A. Ajibola officially handed over a parish of 25 workers, over 12 children, above 25 adult members 3 house fellowship, 10 functional departments, a number of musical and other necessary equipment and Parish account with some money already contributed toward land and building project to the in-coming Pastor, A/P Nam-Okuo Orok.
Pastor Nam-Okuo Orok later handed over the Parish to Pastor Nsidibe ETTANG whom God used to secure a piece of land at Gloryland close, off #35 Faith Road, off Ikot Ekpene Road, Uyo. The Parish moved to her permanent location on 11th May, 2008 after the Church building reached window level.
Pastor Nsidibe ETTANG later handed over the Parish with the structure still under construction to Pastor Harry UDOH who continued with the good work already in progress. He facilitated the roofing of the church.
In September 2011, A/P Harry UDOH handed over the affairs of the Parish to Pastor Tunji KUPOLATI who completed the building of the church and stated the process of dedication of the church building.
On Sunday January 13th, 2013, Pastor Tunji KUPOLATI handed over the affairs of the church to the in-coming Pastor, Pastor Abraham A. Ajibola. The Parish building was later dedicated on Sunday January 27th, 2013 by the then Regional Pastor RCCG, Region 14 and Akwa Ibom Province 1, Pastor Jacob ONI.
Pastor Abraham at his second coming concentrated his effort on securing the church properties by installing burglary proofs on all the windows.
He also organized, launched and registered Glory Land (Uyo) Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited (for the welfare of Gloryland Zone members) with the Directorate of Cooperatives, Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria on 30th December, 2014. The Cooperative is currently under the leadership of Bro. Anietie ETTEYIT (08033842469/09054508709) as chairman and Bro. Emmanuel Solomon UDOH as secretary (08023227940).
Pastor Abraham Ajibola later handed over to Pastor Seth Samuel on 31st August, 2017.
We resume formerly on the 3rd of September, 2017 to meet a total attendance of 35 people including children on ground which was a major concern to us.
The challenge that needed to be urgently addressed then was

  • Improvement of the very low attendance with very few workers
  • Repainting of the Church building which was at a very sorry state
  • Encouragement of members for effectiveness/delivery.

To the Glory of God, these major challenges received attention as our attendance for the last six weeks stood as follows:
July 22nd      –        78
July 29th       –        94
August 5th    –        69
August 12th –        63
August 19th  –        64
August 26th –        79
The Church also got a uniform for the teen’s choir and assigns them to minister occasionally. This has help in driving our attendance.

  1. DISCIPLINARY ACTION

On resumption in Sept. 2017, Pst. Abraham A. Ajibola in his hand over note to me recorded the sum of N398,652.65 as cash balance in the main account with Access bank. During the remittance of that month, we discovered that the treasurer, Bro. Otobong Sunday did not deposit the offerings of that month into the account totally N187,500 and had also made a withdrawal of N168,000 from the account for his personal use. Effort was consistently made to recover the total sum of N355,500 from him. We were able to recover N150,000. After several attempt to recover the balance of N205,500 fail. He was place on indefinite suspension after signing an undertaking to remit the money to the Church latest 1st Oct., 2018. The copy of the undertaking is hereby attached.
